Risks and Trends online. Due to pandemic unpredictability, this year's Risks and Trends will be held without audience participation. The 22 talks, featuring 33 panellists, have been recorded in studio. The 10 panels, each lasting an hour, will be broadcast Monday to Friday at 10am and 3pm, all of which can be found on the conference website, which is also where the programme and information about all the participants - our guests and presenters - can be found. The theme of the conference is re-evaluation, the search for a new language and better tools to name and understand the changes taking place.

Politics and media. In the opening panel, Andrzej Bobiński will talk with philosopher and political scientist Ivan Krastev and journalist Dariusz Rosiak about the intersection of the media, information and democracy. The technological and business transformation of the news sector, the growing tensions between governments and tech companies, and the deteriorating situation of the Polish media are a springboard for the debates. On Wednesday, Wojciech Szacki and Monika Helak will talk to sociologists Marta Bucholc and Michał Łuczewski about the ways 2020 has changed Polish society. And whether the change in the perception of the role of the state, social rebellion and growing worldview disputes will make it possible to create a new community or deepen existing divisions.

Energy, economy and banking. On Tuesday, Robert Tomaszewski and Dominik Brodacki will ask Vice-President of the European Commission Frans Timmermans whether energy transition can be fair, democratic and peaceful. Member of the Board of Management of E.ON SE Dr Karsten Wildberger will also speak about the transition. On Thursday, MinDev Jarosław Gowin will present his ideas for rebuilding the economy, while Orange Polska CEO Julien Ducarroz and Ingka Group CEO Jesper Brodin will discuss how COVID has been changing the management of large companies and how to prepare for future crises, including the effects of the climate catastrophe. On Friday, Adam Czerniak, Piotr Sobolewski and their guests will discuss whether the era of banks is coming to an end and what the future of the financial ecosystem will look like.

Security, Europe, global issues. On Monday, Marek Świerczyński and his guests will talk about the threats of the post-covid world and how they will affect the understanding of security. On Wednesday, Agnieszka Smoleńska and Piotr Buras, head of the ECFR office in Warsaw, will discuss European sovereignty with Minister for European Affairs Konrad Szymański, former Finnish prime minister Alexander Stubb and head of the ECFR, Mark Leonard. They will also discuss whether there is room in it for a sovereign Poland. Finally, on Friday, Piotr Łukasiewicz will ask GMF head Karen Donfried about the new US president, his government and a new opening in transatlantic relations.

Health and education. 2020 has forced us all to focus on the most important issues. On Tuesday, Piotr Żakowiecki will talk to MinHea Adam Niedzielski about the health care system, and then he and a panel of experts will discuss how to fix health care battered by decades of neglect and by the recent year of pandemic. On Thursday, Hanna Cichy and her guests will debate the future of the labour market, whether there are changes in the offing and if we should fear them. She will then juxtapose the changing economy with the challenges of education at all levels and society's wider education system.

Partners and friends. This year's Risks and Trends would not have happened without the support and help of our partners. For another consecutive year, the main partner of the conference is Orange Polska. The partners with whom we tackled the above topics were E.ON edis energia, IKEA Polska, Microsoft and Visa. The substantive partners of the conference are the European Council on Foreign Relations and the German Marshall Fund of the United States. The media partner of this year's conference is radio TOK.FM. Thank you.
